Bookwork (10 entries) 2015

Based off of turn of the century proselytizing/religious texts the short form publication looks at the idea of the doctor as practitioner, connecting that storied tradition with contemporary anxieties around the idea of artistic “practice” "making" and the being of a "practitioner".

Framed within the fundamental basis of printed materials and the evolution of the printed word - namely to publish  political and religious information it is not a sacred text but rather a reading into such a text, secondary sources, research, and entertains the tradition of devotional work.

is Art so ‘semi-sacred’ or sacrosanct to be without question or above reproach? How does this sort of writing hope to do more than just blind critique? How is it different than a self help or instructional manual, how does it allow for the author to express investment as well as share interests?
